Overview
Pick Em Party With Friends ("we", "our", "the app") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Information We Collect
- Account information: When you sign up, we collect your email address, username, and password. Your password is securely hashed and never stored in plain text.
- Game data: We store your picks, scores, streaks, mini-game entries, and other game-related activity.
- Social features: Friend connections, group memberships, and chat messages you send (global chat, group chats, and direct messages).
- Uploaded media: Images you choose to share in chat are uploaded to our secure storage and remain accessible to other users in the same chat room (or to the recipient, in the case of direct messages).
- Push notification tokens: If you enable push notifications, we store an Expo Push Token associated with your account so we can deliver game reminders and other in-app notifications.
- Photo library access: If you choose to attach an image to a chat message, the app requests temporary access to your photo library. We only upload the specific image you select. We do not access or scan any other photos.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the app
- To display leaderboards, stats, and game results
- To enable social features like friends, groups, and chat
- To deliver push notifications you have opted into
- To authenticate your account
- To enforce our content policies (see "User-Generated Content" below)
User-Generated Content (Chat)
The app includes a global chat, group chats, and direct messages. By using these features, you agree that:
- You will not post or share content that is hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, threatening, or otherwise objectionable.
- You will not impersonate other users or share content that infringes intellectual property rights.
- You will not use chat to spam, scam, or solicit other users.
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Any user who violates these rules may be banned from the app without notice.
Reporting and Blocking
Every chat message can be reported by long-pressing it and selecting Report message. Every user can be blocked from their profile or by long-pressing one of their messages.
- Reports are reviewed by our moderation team within 24 hours. Confirmed violations result in content removal and may result in user bans.
- Blocking a user immediately and permanently hides all of their messages from your view across the entire app, and prevents them from sending you direct messages.
Third-Party Services
We use Supabase for authentication, data storage (including chat messages and uploaded media), and real-time message delivery. Your data is stored securely on Supabase's servers. We use the Expo Push Notification Service to deliver push notifications. We use the public MLB Stats API to display game data — no personal information is sent to MLB.
We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for advertising purposes.
Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. Chat messages are retained until deleted by you or by us as part of moderation enforcement. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data (including all chat messages and uploaded media) at any time from the app's Settings screen, or by contacting us.
Children's Privacy
The app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, communicated in-app.
